Stefano Venier - Chief Executive Officer at Hera S.p.A.

“We have entered a phase of deep transformation of business. The perspective of shared value can help the companies to create a new tie between purpose and building of competitive advantage. This will happen through an effective implementation of the circular model in the management of business, and the full orientation toward a model of sustainable enterprise in the long run. The more “traditional” roots and cultural the enterprise has, the bigger the challenge appears; if we add to this a central role in the management of the core services in the everyday life, and a strong rooting in the territorial ecosystem, it becomes unavoidable to rise this challenge: here is the transformation that Hera is leading. We will deal with purpose and culture, strategies and business opportunities, innovation, and even with how every single citizen can play a key role.”

Stefano Venier was born in Udine in 1963. He has a degree in computer science and a Master’s in energy management from the Enrico Mattei School in Milan. He began his career in May 1987 at Zanussi as an assistant to the head of production planning control in the laundry division, where he dealt with industrial automation and the design for the construction of Europe's leading automated factory. From 1989 to 1996 he worked at Eni - Enichem, rising through the ranks as: strategic planning assistant, head of market analysis and then head of strategic projects. His duties included enhancing the company's presence in Eastern Europe, developing production joint ventures in Asia, streamlining the company's asset portfolio through mergers and acquisitions, and developing strategic plans for the group. In 1996, he joined management consultancy firm A.T. Kearney, where he focused on the energy, utilities and telecoms sectors. In 2002 he was named Vice President of Energy & Utilities.
