Welcome to Bologna!

The oldest University of the western world and the city of towers and arcades are pleased and honoured to host the 46th National Conference on Inorganic Chemistry from 10 to 13 September 2018.

Chemistry is one of the few scientific disciplines that has an ID, concise and rich of information at the same time, widely recognised as an icon: the periodic table. Inorganic Chemistry deals with all elements of the periodic table and has always had a central role in the chemical sciences. By keeping up to date, Inorganic Chemistry uses multidisciplinary and innovative approaches to tackle both basic science challenges - bonding, structure, reactivity - and problems of high applicative and practical importance for the progress of our society, such as the sustainable production of energy and substances, the development of new functional materials and more effective drugs, environmental control, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Inorganic Chemistry in Italy boasts a long and prestigious tradition in basic and applied research, with several schools of absolute scientific excellence at the international level. The meeting, organized annually by the Inorganic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society, reaching the 46th edition in 2018, is one of the main events of this community and represents a meeting point for researchers, teachers, students and people working in the industrial sector.

The conference aims at showcasing the most recent research results achieved in Italy in the various areas of Inorganic Chemistry, ad at promoting the exchange of ideas and the interactions among scientists working in this discipline. Particular attention is devoted to the participation of young researchers, favoured by a reduced registration fee and the assignment of fellowships.

The scientific program will include plenary and keynote lectures, presented by internationally renowned experts, oral communications and poster sessions. The conference venue is located in the historic center of Bologna, one of the largest and prettiest in Italy, a few steps away from the beautiful Piazza Maggiore. Social events will also be organised in order to relax and appreciate the warm atmosphere and the delicious food that Bologna can offer.

The meeting has the patronage of the University of Bologna and of three of its Departments: CHIM-Department of Chemistry “Giacomo Ciamician”, CHIMIND-Department of Industrial Chemistry “Toso Montanari” and DISTAL-Department of Agricultural and Food Science and Technology.

We look forward to welcoming you !
