Conference daily activities will be located in the Belmeloro District, a new part of the University campus close to Bologna city center. This location provides an ideal setting to experience Bologna atmosphere while partecipating to the Conference.

The University of Bologna

The University of Bologna, founded in 1088, is the oldest university in continuous operation in Europe and one of the oldest in the world. 

It is located in Bologna, in the Northern of Italy, a city with historical attractions, academic excellence and research innovation. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, including medicine, pharmacy, and social sciences, and has produced many notable alumni throughout its history.

The city of Bologna

Bologna is a historic city located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. It is known for its beautiful medieval architecture, vibrant cultural scene, and rich culinary tradition. 

Some of its most famous landmark are the Piazza Maggiore, the Basilica of San Petronio, Piazza Santo Stefano, and the Two Towers. Another famous attraction is the Basilica di San Luca, a beautiful church situated atop a hill overlooking the city, that can be reached via the longest portico in the world (UNESCO heritage).

How to get to Bologna

By plane

The nearest airport is the Guglielmo Marconi Airport of Bologna, that is located about 10 km from the city center. 

The airport is connected to the central railway station by the Marconi Express service, which takes only 7 minutes to cover the route. The monorail costs € 9.20 oneway and € 17.00 round trip. 

Alternatively, the bus line 944 connects the airport to the city for € 4.00, reaching as far as the nearby Ospedale Maggiore. 

Both in the central railway station and in the Ospedale Maggiore you can find bus stops which connects many buses for the city center. 

From the airport you can also reach the center by taxi. A ride to/from the city center takes about 20 minutes with the price ranging from € 20.00-25.00

By train

Bologna main railway station is the central railway station (Bologna Centrale), that serves as final destination for a large number of local, intercity and high-speed trains. 

Italian providers of trian tickets are Trenitalia and Italo Treno.
