Bologna, a prestigious seat of learning, is the home of the oldest university in Europe, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, founded in 1088. Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna Region, is one of the most attractive Italian cities. Its old town centre, still intact in its medieval layout, is one of the best preserved in the world. Bologna is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, joie de vivre and haute cuisine. Piazza Maggiore, the very heart of the town, is surrounded by historical monuments including Palazzo d'Accursio, the former city's Town Hall, the 13th century’s Palazzo Re Enzo and the San Petronio Basilica. In summer, it becomes the backdrop for cultural events and artistic performances. Major tourist attractions, like Venice, Florence and Rome, are easily and rapidly reached from Bologna by train or by car .
Bologna enjoys a temperate climate, although in summer it may be subject to steamy heat.
ISEECap will be hosted in the “DAMS Lab” (Piazzetta P. P. Pasolini, 5/b, 40122 Bologna BO), a laboratory aimed at promoting culture at an urban level. Designed and managed by the Department of Arts of the University of Bologna, DAMSLab is open to the territory and brings different areas of knowledge into dialogue.
It is located by the prestigious film library Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna. The entrance square of DAMSLab is a multifunctional space, suitable for small events, such as live performances, art exhibitions and workshops. Every week, it hosts the Mercato ritrovato market.
Travel
Strategically placed, Bologna is a natural crossroad for international business and commerce. Its International airport “Guglielmo Marconi” is directly connected to most European cities and several intercontinental destinations.

From Bologna Airport to Bologna centre
With the Marconi Express, you reach the Bologna airport from Bologna Central Railway Station and the city center in 7.5 minutes, on an elevated track over the road traffic with a comfortable, fast and clean electric shuttle (5:40 AM to midnight). The fair is 9.20 € and can be bought on line: Marconi Express.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi. The fare is approximately 20 €.
Bologna is a major road and railway hub, extremely well connected with all Italian centres, being at the junction of the main motorways and railways of the country. The railway station of Bologna is the core hub for Italy’s high speed railway network and direct access to the city center.

Transport in the city

Everything within the city wall is walk-able.
TPER is the public transportation system for the Emilia-Romagna region.
The bus costs 1,50 € if paid on-board and is valid for 75 minutes within the urban area. Purchasing in advanced before boarding costs 1,30 €. The ticket allows for multiple trips with a single ticket as long as it’s within 75 minutes. There’s the option to pay with coins but keep in mind that it does not provide change. Ites not need to be exact as long as it’s at least 1,50€
It’s worth purchasing a daily pass for 5,00 € if you plan to purchasing more than three tickets in a single day. These can be purchased at a re-seller. The ticket is valid for 24-hours from when it’s been validated. It’ll need to be validated for each leg of the trip.
Accessing the Conference Venue

Located in the city center, DAMSLab is just a 13-minute walk from the train station of Bologna and it is served by excellent transport links:

To use the bicycles:
- download the RideMovi App for free from the Apple Store or Google Play and register for the service (you must be of legal age and have a credit or debit card).
- create your own account inside which there is a virtual wallet.
Through the App you can, in addition, consulting the map, also locate the closest bicycle and book it for free for a maximum of 15 minutes before the start of the race.
Once you have reached the vehicle, simply scan the QR code, thus unlocking the bicycle lock and starting the ride.
When you reach your destination, you need to finish the ride on the application and this will automatically close the bike lock.
Within a few seconds, confirmation of the end of the race, its cost and the distance traveled will arrive on the display of your smartphone.
At the end of the ride, the application allows the user to provide positive or negative feedback on the use of the service and to report any faults and malfunctions to the manager, indicating the identification number of the bike and a description of the problem encountered.
