Museo di Palazzo Poggi e Biblioteca Universitaria

Via Zamboni 33, Bologna

350 years after the birth of Pope Benedict XIV, born Prospero Lambertini (Bologna, 1675 - Rome, 1758), the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna is promoting an exhibition that intends to recount the innovative work and cultural reform carried out in the eighteenth century by the Bolognese pontiff, and closely linked to the city's history.

Books, manuscripts, albums of prints, anatomical waxes, as well as maps, instruments for the study of physics and also artworks will tell the story of Pope Benedict XIV and the vast cultural and scientific interests fuelled by his generosity, which are still reflected today in the museum collections and in the city's architectural landscape.
