E-Cells Lab

E-Cells Lab, the joint laboratory established by Alma Mater, Ferrari, and NXP, inaugurated in 2024, is a leading center for research on innovative electrochemical materials and processes.

E Cells Lab

E-Cells Lab was established in 2024 through a strategic partnership between the University of Bologna, Ferrari, and NXP to carry out joint research activities focused on the study and characterization of high-performance SSB (semi-solid-state batteries) and ASSB (all-solid-state batteries) lithium cells.

The knowledge and results generated by the laboratory will enable Ferrari to develop a common technical language with its battery supply chain, facilitating the adoption of the most advanced battery technologies. For the University of Bologna, the project represents an opportunity to advance cutting-edge research in the fields of electrochemical energy storage and functional materials, further strengthening its international scientific reputation in these areas. NXP, in turn, will leverage the research outcomes to design and develop innovative battery sensing, monitoring, and control solutions for next-generation energy storage systems.
