MuRiCo8

The aim of the conference is to showcase and discuss the latest advancements in the modeling, testing, design, control, and health monitoring of masonry structures strengthened with composite materials.

Our mission is to gather leading experts and professionals in the field of masonry strengthening with composite materials to foster collaboration, inspiration, and the exchange of innovative approaches and cutting-edge research.

The Conference is organized by AICO (the Italian Association for Fibrous Composites in the Construction Industry, established in 1996, www.aico-compositi.it) and is hosted virtually by the University of Bologna – ALMA MATER, under the patronage of the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering (DICAM, www.dicam.unibo.it), and the Department of Architecture (DA, www.da.unibo.it).

MuRiCo is a vibrant community dedicated to advancing composite materials for the reinforcement of masonry structures. The MuRiCo conference provides an exceptional platform where participants from academia, research, and industry showcase their latest projects, learn from leading experts, and collaborate on innovative solutions. Join our welcoming and dynamic community, where engagement and knowledge sharing thrive.

About AICO

Established in 1996, the Italian Association for Fibrous Composites in Construction (AICO) is the first Italian organization promoting research and innovation in composite materials for the construction industry. With strong academic roots, its initial technical headquarters was at the University of Bologna (now DICAM).

AICO is a non-profit organization that fosters collaboration between academia and professionals to advance knowledge and the application of fibrous composites. Its mission includes defining composite materials (“high-strength continuous fibers in an organic or inorganic matrix”) and promoting their use across various sectors:

Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete: FRP reinforcements for columns, beams, slabs, and prestressing systems.

Structural Systems: FRP profiles, hybrid systems (e.g., wood-composite), and infrastructure applications.

Repair and Retrofit: Seismic retrofitting, reinforcement, and restoration of masonry, concrete, wood, and steel structures.

AICO regularly organizes the MuRiCo conference, a key event dedicated to masonry structures reinforced with composites, supporting innovation and collaboration in this field.
