Start your journey at the University of Bologna with an official welcome from the Vice-Rector for International Relations, who will greet you and introduce you to the University community. You will discover the main campus services and opportunities that will help you get oriented from your very first day.

During the event, you will also meet our Student Ambassadors, who will take part in an Open Mic session to share their experiences, practical advice, and tips on settling into life in Bologna.
The session will feature five Student Ambassadors from five different countries:Jessica Euler (Germany), Darwin Nicolas Patiño Tituana (Ecuador), Aiswarya Varadarajan Nair (India), Malak Sherif Mohamed Ali Elwageeh (Egypt), and Aaron Robert Watters (Australia), offering a variety of perspectives on what it means to study and live at the University of Bologna.

This special Welcome Day is designed for first-year international students, offering the perfect start to your academic and social life at the University.

Step into the rich tapestry of student life at the European Museum of Students (MEUS), the only museum in Europe dedicated to the history of students. Located in the heart of Bologna, the museum offers a unique journey through over eight centuries of student culture and its evolution within universities and society.

The exhibition features approximately 400 artifacts, including paintings, manuscripts, sculptures, posters, and reconstructions of historical environments. Visitors can explore various thematic sections, such as the role of female students, student confraternities, and the evolution of student activism. Interactive installations, films, and documentaries provide deeper insights into the student experience across different eras.

This visit offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditions and dynamics that have shaped student life in Bologna and beyond. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow international students and gain a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage of your new academic home.

Discover the rich intellectual heritage of the University of Bologna at the Historical Library, one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned academic libraries. The library houses an impressive collection of rare books, manuscripts, and documents that reflect centuries of scholarship and learning.

During the visit, you will explore the beautifully preserved reading rooms, view historic manuscripts and early printed works, and learn about the library’s pivotal role in the development of research and education at the University.

This experience provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the academic history of Bologna, connect with fellow international students, and appreciate the cultural treasures of your new academic environment.

City Tour with Student Ambassadors

Meeting point: Piazza Verdi 2/A in front of the Unibo Store.

Explore the vibrant city of Bologna through the eyes of those who know it best, your fellow students! Join our Student Ambassadors for a guided walking tour, available on two different dates (22 and 23 October), that will take you through the city’s historic streets, landmarks, and hidden gems.

Along the way, you’ll receive practical tips on student life in Bologna, hear fascinating stories about the city’s culture and traditions, and discover places that are popular with students for studying, socialising, and relaxing.

This tour is a wonderful opportunity to get to know Bologna, connect with other international students, and start feeling at home in your new academic and cultural environment.



22 October 2025 Tour A – “Bologna Essentials: A Student’s First Walk”
This tour offers a compact introduction to Bologna’s student life and historic heart.
From Piazza Verdi through the medieval towers and lively markets, we end at Neptune’s Fountain.
A perfect walk for first-year students to discover the city’s symbols in one hour.

23 October Tour B – “Bologna Unfolded: Stories of Towers and Traditions”
A longer route that reveals Bologna layer by layer – towers, guilds, markets, churches.
We connect the university heritage with the city’s civic and religious landmarks.
An immersive experience for students who want to explore history, culture, and daily life.
