Information about the ceremony
Accreditation and dressing
PhD graduates, officially registered for the event through the dedicated form, receive an email with the meeting details (date, time, venue). Punctuality is strongly recommended.
Throughout the ceremony, Phds wear the academic gowns and caps provided by Alma Mater upon presentation of a valid ID; the academic dress must be returned at the end of the ceremony.
Please be informed that the gown reaches below the knee, leaving part of the leg exposed between the calf and the ankle, and that it is advisable not to wear bulky bags.
Access to the gowning area is restricted to PhD graduates only; since the area is unsupervised, it is strongly recommended not to leave there any personal belongings or valuables unattended, for which the University declines all responsibility.
Composition of the processions (starting from 6.15 PM)
The ceremony lasts approximately two hours.
The formation of the parades begin 45 minutes before the official start of the ceremony. Phds march in processions organized by disciplinary area. Each parade eventually takes place in a dedicated sector.
Photos
A University photographer documents the event. In addition, two stations are set up where Phd graduates in academic dress can be photographed before the ceremony begins.
Pictures are available free of charge in the following days.
Collective proclamation
At the end of the ceremony, the speaker ask all Doctors to stand up for each scientific area (area of Biological, Geological and Agricultural Sciences, area of Legal, Political, Economic and Statistical Sciences, area of Engineering and Architectural Sciences, area of Mathematical, Physical, Chemical and Astronomical Sciences, area of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Veterinary Medical Sciences, area of Humanistic Sciences), then the Rector solemnly proclaims the Phds.
