Angela Liberatore
Head of the Scientific Management Department at ERC Executive Agency
She is Head of the Scientific Department at the European Research Council (ERC), which manages the evaluations and monitoring of projects submitted to ERC in all scientific domains and undertakes ex-ante and ex-post analyses of ERC funded research -including to provide feedback to policy.
She previously worked in the research programmes on environment and climate, social sciences and humanities and then international cooperation in the Directorate General for Research of the European Commission. Among her professional ‘highlights’, she co-chaired the Social Protection group for the UN Research Roadmap for COVID-19 Recovery, contributed to the development of EU 'science diplomacy', participated in the making of EC White Paper on European Governance and in the negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change.
She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences (European University Institute) and a degree in Philosophy (University of Bologna). She is also an alumna of the Kennedy School of Government -Harvard University that she visited with a Fulbright Fellowship. Among her publications, the book ‘The Management of Uncertainty. Learning from Chernobyl’.
