Marco Malgarini

Senior Manager, Italian National Agency for the evaluation of universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR)

He is Senior Manager for research evaluation in the Italian National Agency for the evaluation of universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) since 2012. Previously, he was Head for Research in business and consumers surveys at the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and at the Institute for Studies and Economic Analyses (ISAE) and Senior Economist at the Confederation of Italian industries.
Currently, Marco supervises all the activities linked to research evaluation of Universities and Research Centres in Italy, including the coordination of periodical national research assessment exercises (VQR), the yearly accreditation and evaluation of PhD courses and the classification of scientific journals. His current research interests include the study of research evaluation methods and the impact of research evaluation on research habits and performance.
Marco has a degree in Economics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He is the author of over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals and volumes in the fields of research evaluation, macroeconomics, short term statistical indicators and business cycle analysis
