Yasaman Yousefi

She is a Ph.D. candidate in Law, Science, and Technology (LAST-JD) since November 2021. She holds an LLM in Sustainable Development from the University of Milan. Her research, titled "The Quest to AI Fairness: Ethical, Legal and Technical Solutions," adopts an interdisciplinary approach to exploring fairness in automated decision-making, focusing on the intersection of ethical, legal, and technical perspectives. Yasaman investigates how and to what extent these combined approaches can ensure fairness in AI systems, particularly in high-risk decision-making contexts.
She is the winner of the ISA Doctoral Prize for interdisciplinary research, and a member of the winning team in the EU AI Act Grand Challenge, recognizing her innovative contributions to AI ethics and law. She is actively involved in several European projects, where she applies her expertise in law, ethics, and technology to address the challenges of AI fairness, transparency, and accountability.
