Alice Mattoni

She is Associate Professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of
Bologna. Her research focuses on the intersections between digital technologies and social movements, social
movement organisations, civil society organisations and activists. As Principal Investigator of the ERC-funded
project BIT-ACT (2019-2024), she has been examining how movement organisations develop and use digital
technologies and media to fight corruption around the world. This line of research will be further developed in
the RESPOND research project (2024-2029), of which Alice is the Scientific Coordinator. She is coordinating
editor of Social Movement Studies and of the open access journal Partecipazione e Conflitto. She is on the
editorial board of Social Media + Society and Social Science Computer Review. She is one of the three cofounders and current editor of the Routledge series Media and Communication Activism.
